ED MORITZ NON-COMICS WORK


Edward "Ed" Moritz' name is indelible in the annals of horror comics history as the cover artist for ADVENTURES INTO THE UNKNOWN #1 (ACG Comics, Fall 1948) , the first all-new, all-horror, continuously published comic book. In addition, Moritz worked for Gilberton, Story Comics, Toby Press, and Trojan Comics.

As one can see from these images, he was also adept at painting covers for paperback books, as well as illustrating for digest magazines such as MIKE SHAYNE MYSTERY MAGAZINE.

This particular work was a cover for the Beacon Books title "House Party", Beacon was an adult-oriented softcover publisher who is now known as one of the major producers of "sleaze" paperbacks from the period,
