Bill Gaines seemed to pop up in print in the most unlikeliest of places. This two-pager from TOPS IN HUMAN HUMAN HIGHLIGHTS #1 (March 1954) is written by an unknown author as a human interest story and might be the only article during this period that sheds a softer light on the beleaguered publisher. The last paragraph includes an insightful observation.
The sample page accompanying the article is from SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #11 (October-November 1953) and titled, "in gratitude...".
